Editors Note: This story orinally listed Berkshire's girls as winning three straight conference titles when in fact they have won two straight and three in four years. We regret the error. On Friday, Berkshire’s boys’ basketball team defeated Fairport Harding, 56-43, to win its third straight Chagrin Valley Conference Valley Division championship. The Badgers celebrated by cutting down the net.
The Lady Badgers blew past Cardinal, 61-26, to win their second straight CVC championship and third in four years. They closed out the night but cutting down their own net. The Badgers, who improved to 12-7 overall and 9-1 in the CVC, started the rout early. They led 21-4 after the first quarter and 37-9 at the half. Berkshire shot 65-percent in the first half while holding Cardinal to just 17-percent in the first 16 minutes. Things didn’t get better for the Huskies in the second half. The Badgers closed out the game by shooting 67-percent in the second half to finish the game a remarkable 66-percent from the floor. Berkshire junior Kayla Byler led all scorers with 23 points and tied with senior Angela Moss with a game-high 8 rebounds. Moss scored 10 points. Senior Harley Adler contributed 14 points and senior Kendall Neumore, junior Brooke Sell and sophomore Peyton Neumore each added 4 for the Badgers. Adler also had 3 blocks and 3 steals. The Badgers dominated the paint, out rebounding Cardinal, 40-15, and outscoring the Huskes, 36-10, under the hoop. Berkshire closes out the regular season on Wednesday when they host Chardon at 7:30 p.m. and also recognize their three seniors.
