It’s said that big time players make big plays in big games.
At Saturday’s Division II Sectional Meet at Hawken Porter recorded personal bests in two events to earn a spot in this weekend’s district meet at Cleveland State University. Porter swam a 2:32.77 in the 200-meter Individual Medley to place 17th in her sectional. To advance to districts she needed to be among the top 30 in all three northeast Ohio Sectionals, which included events in Akron and Lakewood). She placed 27th to punch her ticket to CSU. Despite a lifetime best in the 500-meter freestyle, Porter came up just short of qualifying for districts. Her 5:53.7 time placed her 35th, just five spots short of the minimum placement. Porter is one of just nine freshmen that will compete in the 200 IM this weekend. |
The same could be said about swimmers, especially Berkshire freshman Becca Porter.
